NEW FORMAT FOR YOUTH CRICKET

Four grades of secondary school and club youth cricket commence their season tomorrow and this term they will trial a new format - Declaration Cricket.

The Cup, Bowl, Plate and Colts grades will play the format, which is aimed at re-introcuing a red ball format into youth cricket.

Games are 100 overs in duration, with the side batting first being allocated a maximum of 53 overs and the team batting second 47.  The team batting first may declare before using all 53 overs if dersired, to give themselves more overs to try and bowl out the opponents.  Result options include win/loss and winning or losing draw.
